From the Sharad Sindwani
My name is Sharad Sindhwani and I am a senior associate at Info Edge, the most successful internet start-up of India. Info Edge is a listed entity with a market cap of Rs.30,000 crores. It has a number of successful internet ventures such as Naukri.com, Jeevansathi.com, 99acres.com and few more. Info Edge also holds majority stakes in Zomato, PolicyBazaar, MeritNation, Happily Unmarried and several more.
I joined Info Edge in early 2006, in the pre-IPO days as a Product Manager – Naukri.com. I was assigned with the task of taking the company internationally. Thus, Naukrigulf.com was born and with continued investments in product development, user-experience, technology, data science and business development, Naukrigulf.com has become the leading job site of the Gulf region. I am now the Senior Vice President – Product Management.
In January 2020, I will be taking charge of another product as a Business Head – FirstNaukri.com which is a portal for hiring freshers and works closely with hundreds of Engineering & MBA campuses across the country. As Business Head, I will be accountable for running all functions of this business – product development, business development, marketing, service & support, alliances, etc. I will be directly accountable for the top and bottom lines of the business.
Prior to joining Info Edge, I was working with Amkette – manufacturers, and marketers of computer consumables as an Assistant Manager – Online Marketing. At Amkette, the task was to build websites for three different product lines of Amkette, one of which was focused on e-commerce.
My journey after PGDBM at JIMS had started with Panacea Biotec Ltd where I joined as a Management Trainee in the product management team. I took various initiatives which exposed me to corporate communications & event management. The digital journey started when the company purchased an online CRM tool. My role was to get the tool customized for the business unit and migrate processes and reporting online.
I was born & brought up in Dehra Dun and was educated in one of the finest schools in this city. After schooling, I got selected for National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla where I was a cadet but had to secure release during the third term due to an injury. Thereafter I did my graduation from the University of Delhi while pursuing business at the same time. Finally, I decided to go for an MBA and enter the corporate world.
I also found my life partner at JIMS, in the same batch & class of PGDBM 2000-02. I and Richa are blessed with two beautiful children, a 12-year-old son, and a 6-year-old daughter.
JIMS not only provided me a sound pedagogy on which I built my corporate career, a life partner with whom I started a family but I also found my best buddy at JIMS, Sharanjeet. Both of us meet regularly to date and every meeting is a celebration for us. All in all, a lot started for me at JIMS and still continues to grow…we have a WhatsApp group of batchmates which helps us keep in touch and organize reunions once a while and meet in person.
