Helping Hands – A CSR Initiative of JIMS Alumni

Helping Hands – A CSR Initiative of JIMS Alumni

Our scriptures have taught us that

Giving Water to the Thirsty,

Food to the Hungry,

Clothing to the Bare, and

Shelter to the Homeless

Is an Act of God!

Corroborating to this philosophy, several companies and institutions in India have decided to become socially responsible and are volunteering to invest a modest part of their profits for welfare of the society. Undoubtedly, the millennials of India have been born and brought up in the land of Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa and many more generous souls who are the harbingers of humanitarianism in India. Therefore, to foster the spirit of charity JIMS Rohini conducted a CSR Initiative ‘Helping Hands’ with the community of Alumni members who volunteered to participate in the noble act of giving back to the society.

There is a popular school of thought that believes in the concept of spiritual awakening by the means of donating to the underprivileged section of society. Our kind alumni came forward as they conducted a donation drive on 26th December 2021 for the masses sheltered in the tenement housing of Delhi NCR and Jaipur region and distributed ‘necessity goods’ such as woollen clothes, shoes, blankets and eatables amid chills of winter season.

The alumni shared with us that the joy of giving especially during the festivities of winter when we embark to welcome another year or hope that brings an end to the pandemic, it was gratifying to see the lit up faces of the underprivileged people who are deprived of social comforts. In the everyday life, we seldom find a day when reaching out to real people in anticipation of physiological needs is possible. Lurking in the corner, they long for a messenger to rescue them from the wrath of nature. However, such CSR initiatives extend a golden opportunity to indulge in altruistic acts for those in need.

One of the paramitas of Buddha preaches that for an individual to become perfect, one must be involved in the act of giving, but it is equally important to be selfless and expect nothing in return in the process. In the quest to attain perfection in life, every individual seeks an opportunity to serve those at the receiving end. While the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) takes into account social, economic, and environmental impact that benefits mankind. We believe that a sound business strategy should align CSR practices with its vision and mission to contribute to not only business but the entire society.
